Some stacks have had high flow conditions. I've built many a stack, some with fortification-only 'protection'. Never seen either swim-through or suck-through with magma. I've also seen it with large cavern draw with blobs where I was pulling high levels of water from C3, blobs got sucked through, handy yellow tile artifacting let me CSI it. I've seen it with water under highly constructed circumstances (gobbo water slide) with high levels of pressure. I've actually never seen this, I've had 7/7 fortifications (under water and magma) and never had a FB swim through it.Īdditionally if a tile is 6/7 or less and under pressure a critter might get sucked through it - but I'm a wee bit questiony here - I've never seen 'pressure based flow through' with magma. Technically, documentation suggests that if a tile is 7/7 flooded a critter can straight up swim through it. In theory, FBs might be able to get through fortifications under very very unusual circumstances. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Much better to have the forges right near your hall and bedrooms than eating all the ticks cuz Urist McHaul has to run 100 flights down and 100 flights back up just cuz you're an elf. No stack? That means Urist McHaulsAlot will be running stairs all damned day long. Another solution is to turn off temperature effects - which irrespective of stack is a big FPS boost.īut I offer one important final argument. Somebody already commented on a partial solution. I'm a bit meh on this, it's not that big of a hit. You build your stack, you fill your magmashop floor, you eat the hit until the magma refills from map edge. Most of the FPS fucking is via the refill from map edge.
